Arriving in Austria is possible through several different means of transportation.
Car
There's a greatly expanded network of interstate highways and speedways connecting Austria with all its neighbouring countries. All major connecting border crossings are open day and night.
Tolls, vignette stickers & toll-boxes
Highways and speedways (also urban motorways) in Austria are generally toll roads. The toll is in the form of a vignette sticker or paid into a toll box (for vehicles weighing a maximum of 3.5t).
Rental vehicles in Austria
Rental autos can be obtained at all airports, major train stations and in the cities. There are also international auto rental agencies operating through reservation offices in countries, in which tourists can make prearrangements with their travel agencies before departure.
Train
The Austrian national train network covers over 11,000km track and is connected with the entire European train network. All major connecting lines through Austrian are planned with an official time schedule systems, having no more than one or two hour intervals and ensuring prompt transfer connections.
Using the train provides many advantages, such as ensuring relaxed travel, during which you can enjoy your coffee, read the newspaper, or even work out details for planning your event.
In choosing the train, you’ll be certain to find the correct route, regardless of whether you choose to travel during the day or at night.
